Even after full leaf fall was reached, EVI continued to detect coloring which was likely due to the presence of understory plant species. Finally, NEE and GPP changes tended to start before LC as a result of tree physiological and environmental changes and continued after full leaf fall possibly due to understory and coniferous activity. These results highlight the need for long-term field observations of both trees and understory species, information on species-specific canopy senescence patterns, and species composition in understanding the efficiency of indirect approaches in estimating autumn forest phenology.BACKGROUND Newer epidemiological studies suggest that the incidence of ulcerative colitis might be increasing rapidly. Furthermore, osteoporosis in ulcerative colitis patients has gained great attention, but the epidemiologic evidence remains controversial. Therefore, a meta-analysis was performed to explore the association between bone density and ulcerative colitis. METHODS Two investigators used PubMed, EMBASE and the Cochrane Library databases to identify all studies published before August 2019. Depending on the outcomes, investigators divided these studies into four groups (OR, SMD [BMD], SMD [z-score] and SMD [t-score]). To address the use of steroids, which is a major confounding factor in this analysis, another subgroup analysis of studies of steroid-free patients was conducted. Additionally, heterogeneity, sensitivity and stratified analyses were also performed. RESULTS A total of 13 cross-sectional studies that involved 1154 participants were included in the present meta-analysis, and three of them were included in the steroid-free subgroup analysis. MATERIALS AND METHODS Thirty-six implants with different surfaces were placed in the iliac crest of four Bergamasca sheep. The implant surfaces tested were sandblasted and acid-etched (group A), laser-treated (group B), and fully machined (group C). Two animals were sacrificed after 15?days while the other two after 30?days. Histological and histomorphometric analyses were performed. RESULTS After 30?days, the bone tissue layer onto implant groups A and B appeared almost continuous with small marrow spaces interruption, while on the machined surface (group C), larger spaces with marrow tissue alternated with the bony trabeculae onto the titanium surface. Implants in groups A and B showed significantly higher implant contact percentage (BIC%) value than group C (P less then 0.05). Moreover, it was observed a BIC% increase in both groups A and B between 15 and 30?days while in the machined group (group C), the BIC% decreased. Presence of HPMC affected drug solubility according to the physicochemical properties of studied compounds. The possible combined effects of polymer adsorption (drug shielding effect) or the formation of a polymeric viscous layer around drug particles may have retarded drug dissolution leading to reduced apparent solubility of highly soluble and/or highly ionized compounds and were pronounced mainly at early time points.
